To put an artificial Christmas tree in a storage bag, remove decorations and detachable accessories, separate the tree as its instructions allow, and compare the largest section with the bag opening. Load without forcing the branches, fittings or zipper.
Check the bag before dismantling the tree
Inspect the seams, handles, opening and closure. Compare the bag with the tree sections rather than relying only on the tree’s advertised assembled height. Use the tree-bag measurement guide if the usable size or opening is uncertain.
Remove items that should be packed separately
Disconnect power before handling a pre-lit tree and follow its instructions for detachable wiring. Remove ornaments, hooks and other accessories that can snag the bag or damage branches. Pack the stand separately if its shape or sharp points could press against the tree or bag.
Separate and fold the tree as instructed
Keep track of the order and identity of the sections. Fold branches only through their intended movement; do not force a hinge or bend a rigid fitting to make the bundle smaller. Check that connectors remain accessible and are not trapped between sections.
Place the bag where you can load it comfortably
Open the bag fully on a clean surface. Try the longest or widest section first and check the path through the opening. Arrange other sections around it without concentrating hard parts against one seam. Use padding or restraints only when appropriate for the tree and bag design.
Close without pulling the bag into shape
Bring the opening together before operating the zipper. Stop if branches or wiring enter the zipper path. If closure requires force, rearrange the sections or choose a more suitable bag. A zipper should not be used to compress an unsuitable load into place.
Check the planned handling action
Review the loaded shape and carrying points before moving the bag. Follow the product’s handling limits and get help for a load you cannot control comfortably. A handle does not establish a verified load capacity.
Label the contents and choose a storage location
Label the section arrangement if it will help next season. Store the bag in a clean, dry location that avoids leaks, heat and crushing by other items. See artificial tree storage conditions for the ongoing storage checks.
