Return Rate by Fabric: What Actually Breaks
Based on 16 years of tracking return data across 100+ OEM programs. Handle tear-out and bottom abrasion account for 70% of physical returns – both directly determined by fabric weight and weave density.

A $0.42/yard upgrade from 80gsm non-woven to 600D Oxford eliminates most physical failure returns. On a 10,000-piece order, that’s $4,200 in additional material cost – saving $2,400+ in returns and protecting listing health from negative reviews.
PU Coating vs PVC Coating - Why It Matters
If your supplier says “waterproof Oxford” without specifying the coating, it’s PVC. PVC off-gases phthalates, fails OEKO-TEX, and triggers “chemical smell” returns. Always specify PU.
PVC Coating - Don't Use
- Off-gases phthalates - chemical smell for weeks
- Fails OEKO-TEX - cannot certify
- Fails Prop 65 - listed chemical
- Triggers returns - "chemical smell" is #1 odor complaint
- Cheapest option - saves $0.03-0.08/yard
- Sticky surface - feels cheap in hand
PU Coating - Always Specify
- Zero off-gassing - no chemical smell
- OEKO-TEX certifiable - passes all tests
- Prop 65 compliant - no listed chemicals
- No odor returns - eliminates #1 complaint cause
- + $0.03-0.08/yard - negligible cost for major quality upgrade
- Smooth, premium feel - better hand touch
Compliance Status by Material & Market

200+ In-Stock Fabrics + Pantone Custom Dyeing
Standing fabric inventory means faster reorder, stable color match, and no 10-15 day dye-lot wait. For custom Pantone colors, our 3-step dye process ensures D65 daylight accuracy.
Pantone Matching & Lab Dip
Provide your Pantone reference or physical sample. Our dyeing lab creates a lab dip (small swatch) for your approval. Color verified under D65 daylight standard – not office fluorescent.
3-5 days
Bulk Dye Production
After lab dip approval, the mill dyes 500-1,000m minimum (drives custom dye MOQ). Color consistency verified with spectrophotometer, Delta-E ≤1.5 tolerance. OEKO-TEX certified dyes only.
7-10 days
Swatch Ship & Bulk Stock
Bulk fabric dyed, inspected, and rolled. We ship a physical swatch from the actual bulk lot (not pre-production) for your final approval. Then hold remaining as standing inventory for your reorders.
3-5 days
Standing inventory advantage: We hold 1,000-5,000m of your custom fabric in our warehouse for 12+ months. When you place a reorder, we cut from existing stock – no dye wait, no color drift, 7-day faster production. Quarterly inventory reports with photos of fabric rolls available on request.
Fabric Questions
For most mid-range storage bags ($8-25 retail), 600D Oxford with PU coating is the industry standard. It balances durability, cost, water resistance, and compliance. For premium positioning ($25+), 12oz cotton canvas. For budget/seasonal, 100gsm+ non-woven. For sustainability brands, RPET 600D.
Oxford is a specific basketweave pattern of polyester. All Oxford is polyester, but not all polyester is Oxford. The basketweave gives Oxford higher abrasion resistance and a textured appearance. 600D Oxford is the most common specification for storage bags.
Chemical odor comes from PVC coating (phthalates), formaldehyde-based dye fixatives, or solvent-based adhesives. Always specify PU coating (not PVC), OEKO-TEX certified dyes, and water-based adhesives. Total cost increase: approximately $0.31 per bag – eliminates 90% of odor complaints.
Yes. RPET fabric is available in the same denier range as virgin polyester. GRS certification requires chain-of-custody documentation from recycled pellet to final fabric. Cost premium: 10-15% over virgin polyester. Specify “RPET with GRS certification” in your PO.
Yes. We ship fabric swatch books (50+ fabric/color options) free to your address worldwide. Swatches arrive in 3-5 days via DHL/FedEx. You can feel the texture, see the color, and test the weight before committing to sampling.
Always specify PU (polyurethane) coating. Never accept unspecified “waterproof” fabric – the factory will default to PVC, which off-gases phthalates, cannot pass OEKO-TEX, and triggers odor returns. PU coating costs $0.03-0.08 more per yard but eliminates the #1 quality complaint.
