Sourcing Custom Makeup Bags for Beauty Brands

Makeup bag

In This Article

For a beauty brand, a custom makeup bag has to fit the products in the kit before its color or logo is approved. Start with the actual bottles, palettes and brushes, then check how customers will pack, carry and clean the bag. This guide is a sourcing checklist, not a report of a customer trial.

Send suppliers one specification for the filled size, opening, compartments, outer material, lining, branding and packaging. Ask each supplier to quote that same configuration. Keep optional upgrades on separate lines so a lower price does not hide a smaller bag or a different lining.

1. Material Selection for Brand Positioning

Request a swatch of the proposed outer material and lining. Record the material composition, color reference, finish and care instructions. For coated fabric, inspect bending and seam areas on the finished sample as well as the flat swatch. If recycled content matters to the brief, ask for documentation that applies to the offered material; a material name alone does not verify a claim.

Confirm what cleaning method is allowed. A wipe-clean surface does not establish that the whole bag is waterproof, especially at the zipper and seams.

2. Functional Design Features

Load the sample with the products in the intended kit. Check that the longest brush fits without bending, bottles stay upright where required, and pockets do not pull the lining out of shape. Measure the usable interior and zipper opening as well as the outside dimensions. Use our makeup bag size guide to prepare that measurement brief.

Open and close the filled bag, check whether lining catches in the zipper, and lift it by the intended handle. Record the load and checks used. Ask the supplier to propose test conditions and acceptance criteria for the intended use rather than choosing a zipper only by brand name.

3. Customization Options

Provide the artwork file, logo dimensions, placement and color reference. Ask which decoration method suits the selected surface and confirm the result on the actual material. Check the artwork against seams, folds and zipper access. If you change the fabric after approval, review the logo result again.

List custom zipper pulls, woven labels and retail sleeves separately. These details can have their own minimum quantities and preparation costs.

4. Sourcing Economics

Ask for the MOQ per design and per color, and confirm whether the quantity refers to individual bags or packaged sets. Request separate lines for the sample, bag, logo setup, retail packaging and freight. Keep the currency and trade term consistent when comparing offers.

Agree when the production lead time starts: for example, after the specified approvals and material confirmation. Record the approved sample version, allowable variations, packed unit dimensions and carton quantity before placing the order. Prices, MOQ and delivery dates need to come from the quotation for that configuration.
